The Valley of Indecision
In the valley of indecision, one weak and frail man wondered.
He had been there for too long, lost and aimlessly drifting. The sands would sting his ankles, gnawing at his skin from the deadly winds. The smell was rotten, like expired meat. There was not a ray of sunshine, only darkness and despair.
Yet still man was walking.
Why continue walking?
Why not collapse and simply let it consume him?
He continues to walk because he has one question in mind, ‘surely there is more to life than this?’ this one question, in itself, is a spark. A decision to continue is a decision none the less.
In the valley of indecision there isn’t supposed to be that curiosity. For anything of that sort is snuffed out of your bones and flesh. Yet this man’s cells were humming for something more, to taste something greater than this hand he has been dealt. So he continued to walk onwards, a little less aimless, now with direction in mind, forward!! A direction not a destination for he had not dared dream up a destination yet. The valley shatters dreams so he made his direction so simple and steady that it became unbreakable as his foundation. Now the valley had not seen this before, his one thought began to influence the valley of indecision.
Over time the man held that one and only thought as he walked forward. Slowly but surely the valley began changing in appearance. Occasionally you would see the odd plant growing, the winds changed and the sands didn’t bite anymore. The valley’s landscape was changing as the man began changing.
One day, it rained. Gushing amounts of water fell from the sky in the sweetest droplets. For this man, it was like having a shower after a long day’s work. The sheer delight of the cool sensation on his skin. He stopped walking, laid down, closed his eyes and let the waters wash over him. For hours he lay there, eyes closed while the rains gave it there all. When all had stopped, he opened his eyes and paused in bewilderment. Drops of liquid fell off his cheek and onto his chest, not rain this time, tears. For his eyes beheld the sun, the sun was shining on his skin, a rainbow kissed the blue skies and there was life all around him, shining.
